With your support, we can ensure that more families can be together during the end of life, surrounded by love and community.
Help us ensure no one waits for the care they need
Aberdeen City and Shire is facing a crisis amongst its ageing population.
Regional care infrastructure is under strain with delayed social care assessments, and gaps in service delivery, resulting in significant unmet needs.
Older people are losing precious time waiting for the care they deserve, with some people spending their final months in hospital or at home without the expert care, comfort, and dignity they need and deserve.
Simeon’s sector-leading nursing and palliative care currently supports 23 residents, but the home is at full capacity, and demand continues to grow.

Together we can increase Simeon's capacity from 23 residents to 36, ensuring that more older people get access to the care that they deserve.
Expanding our community of care
Exciting work is underway to expand Simeon and enable us to increase the number of older people we support by over 90%. The construction of a new wing will create a place where more people can live with positivity, dignity, and compassion, in a place where they feel safe, known, and at home.
Our extension will include 18 ensuite, ground-floor bedrooms, each with direct access to our redeveloped dementia-friendly garden. The expansion will increase capacity to 36 placements - helping ensure more people receive the care they deserve. It will also increase the number of local authority-funded places by 60%.
We have the land, permissions, skills, and ambition to extend and alleviate pressure on the overstretched healthcare systems, but we need financial support to make our vision a reality.

We need your help
We have secured over 70% of the cost but need your help to fund the remaining £2 million.
Every room added means another family can be together during the end of life, surrounded by love and community.
The new home will stand as a beacon of hope and excellence in old age care, and show that ageing can be full of meaning, purpose, and happiness.

The extension will ensure that every resident has direct access from their bedroom to the dementia friendly garden.
